How do we learn to learn and what could be the role of design in the process? We came to know it all when HEP Vaud (Haute école pédagogique du Canton de Vaud) approached us with a challenge: engaging with future and current teachers, professors and pedagogues strongly committed to the excellence and progress of the profession.

The request was arousing. Our team was ready. We designed a brand architecture concept and seven thematic films that position HEP Vaud as the best ally of educators who want to be well-equipped for present and future educational challenges. To help society evolve, after all.

The result was an inspiring campaign launched at a grand ceremony in the EPFL SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne.

HEP Vaud educational approach is solidly grounded in five principles that nurtured the campaign created here at Studio Banana: teachability, never-ending excellence, rigour, progress, and openness to collaboration.

As result of an intense and fruitful process of co-design with the HEP Marcom team, we developed a modular branded architecture concept to be deployed as part of its promotional activities. We also created a series of inspiring animated illustration videos that connect HEP Vaud’s values and courses with powerful educator insights such as Teaching is also inspiring, Beautiful passions are sharing, or Always learning.

But generating attention was not enough. We wanted to build active interest and involvement. In order to not only introduce HEP Vaud to its potential students but also generate engagement between them, we devised and provided a global strategy that included insights gathering, strategic messaging, tone definition, look & feel, art direction, storytelling, style-framing, illustration, animation, production and postproduction services.

Teaching today the teachers of tomorrow

A cantonal higher-education centre in the State of Vaud, Switzerland, HEP Vaud provides undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate education for future teachers. It believes in the power of curiosity and learning and offers training and lifelong education, certified or not, to active teachers and to all school professionals. It is also active in the field of pedagogical research and development and creates meaningful educational resources for school professionals.

Founded in 2001 in Lausanne, it is part of the Swiss Universities network which aims to achieve excellence in the teacher training sector. It develops a cooperation tissue nationally and internationally.
